Default DC JDM 4-1 header, worth it?

I need a new header. My current DC sport header is a piece of crap and is dented on the bottom. I was wondering if the JDM 4-1 header makes good power. My setup is GSR built to Type R specs, 8500 redline. what would you guys recomend? Price is and issue, i dont have money for hytech, sms, or header-tech, and the DC JDM goes for about 250 new. TAI

well you threw out all the good ones Yes the JDM 4-1 is a good unit, and i would recomend it over the JDM DC 4-1 becasue the clearance on that piece is ultimate failure and you will crush it... everyone that has had that header end up messing it up, including me... JDM ITR + skid plate = success budget header...

um yeah,.......clearance is a issue. but their cheaper than others. So when you do smash it (like I did), your just glad you didnt pay 500 bucks for it.

umm...Im actually asking about the DC JDM 4-1, not the ITR header. ITR headers are on the mild side arent they? Dont DC JDM 4-1 headers make more power?

the DC jdm header is lighter and clearance issues im guessing, and JDM ITR header is heavier , and is stronger durability wise , i 4got what it was made out of, nice thing about it tho is u can use the heatshilds to hide the header from cops when popping hood and from other people u poop ur hood for, underrated99si is selling one and has pics in his post if u care to take interest

Agreed. But if you do go with the JDM DC, it's good for the money. But personally, I would rather spend an extra couple hundred and make 5 more hp. Heres my JDM DC... what clearance issues?

Yes and no.

Best bang for the buck (under $300) yes..........quality and clearances...no

I gave up on the 4-1 header since this is my 2nd DC(JDM), currently its the third on my hatch.

I'm waiting for my Comtech race header to come in and may take some pics on clearances.

One of I'm sure dozens of plots where the DC makes more then the JDM. Just like there are dozens where the JDM 4-1 makes more then the DC. Differn't cars differnt set-ups, differnt tuning or lack there of. Same thing with cams. How come the Skunk2 Stage 3's make more on one app then the TODA D's but the D's make more on a differn't car? To many variables. The headers are very close to each other. I'll take the JDM for better clearance and OEM quality. Course I'd rather have something else though too. :sigh:

obviously for the $$ the DC JDM 4-1 is the best header to pick up.
i bought one last summer for about $280 shipped new.
much better than the other DC headers i've used in the past.

of course there is that major downfall which was already mentioned: clearance issues.

i do have a few very minor scratches and scraps on the header but so far i have avioded smashing it. you just have to be extra careful to make the DC JDM last as long as possible.

and of course the SMSP, Hytech, Headertech and AN-R headers are much better than the DC or JDM ITR. but they cost quite a bit more.

Go with the jdm itr header. It is definately the best header for the money. You can find it all day for 350 with the flange and collector. Good luck!!!!
