You have to remove the crankshaft pulley and the lower timing belt cover...the CKF is like 5mm from the crankshaft pulley sprocket...you have to make sure it is installed right with the little shiny magnet thing pointing at the pulley sprocket. Mine broke but still installed it and threw a code too, so I had to reinstall it and it worked...

I just used a 1/2 breaker bar from Home Depot and a 11/16 impact socket for the pulley bolt just stood on top of the bar until it came off, smooth as butter. It is torqued extremely tight though...I also had the Moroso Crank Pulley wrench, which made it TONS more easier. My car did run crappy when the CEL went on, like it was sluggish...it's best to get it fixed anyway because CEL's annoy the hell out of me...if they come on I stop what I'm doing and fix it right away...if you do decide to remove anything, just be careful not to move anything...the belt is still on the cam sprocket, water pump, tensioner, and crankshaft pulley, but don't move the stuff around. The CKF is right there, 10mm bolt holding it in...you can get it without moving anything, but be careful anyway. Bad timing=bad things.

No, I didn't have the car in gear...the crank pulley wrench I mentioned above eliminates the need for that...it's also easier to turn the crankshaft with that tool too...the wrench holds the pulley stationary so you can break the bolt off...you could make a similar tool out of parts from Home Depot or something. I wish I could tell you an easier way to get to the CKF, but you really have to remove lots of stuff...drivebelts, crank pulley, lower timing belt cover, upper belt cover if the CKF is damaged and needs to be replaced...also, motor mounts have to be loosened a little bit too. The CKF is really stuck and hidden deep inside all that stuff...good luck.
