B18b Rod Knock.. Questions about rebuild.
purchased a new project car simply because for the price of the car (92 cx hatch) it came with a semi built LS swap and a turbo kit.
the motor had a knock when first cranking it, and after a couple days turned into the wonderful rod knock.
started taking the motor apart last night to discover the owner had hit the oil pan and dented it so bad that it dented in the oil pickup. so im guessing when he did this is disrupted the flow to the oil pump which caused the rod bearing to spin.
after taking the main girdle off and feeling the tension, cylinder 3 wiggles.
plans are to replace the rings, rod/main/thrust bearings and a new oil pump.
motor has je pistons/eagle rods.
my questions:
1) do i need to have something done to the rods? i'm assuming since the bearing spun the #3 rod would be stretched?
2) should i take the crank to a machine shop and have them balance it and check it over.
3) what other issues should i be looking for while the motor is apart.
thanks in advance, this is one of my first ventures tearing into the motor alone.

thanks!.. the pistions are standard bore, and i only intend on replacing the rings, not the pistons themselves.
so, sounds like before i order anything i should take the crank out and to the machine shop to see where i stand on bearings.

1)-Yes I would check them to make sure they are still round.
2)-Yes if you spun a rod bearing there is most likely damage to the crank.
3)-You really need to have everything disassebled and all the oil gallies cleaned, the metal from the bearings will be in there and blast over your new smooth surfaces on startup. Also may as well check the bore for roundness also and maybe give it hone if all is good
