Oil in coolant, semi-different question
i just did a head gasket replacement and during the process i stripped one of the threads in the block. it was late and i needed the car for school so i couldnt fix it and just decided to run it on 9 head bolts. yeah i know it was a very stupid idea but i was desperate.
so now i have oil in my coolant and possibly coolant leaking into the cylinders, cuz the idle goes real low once in a while. i know i need to fix the threads and redo the gasket and i know i might now have a warped head but i dont have the time to do it for about a month. there is a weird part to this. i did a compression test a few weeks after driving it, which was yesterday, and i got
#1 215
#2 216
#3 218
#4 220
so my question is, why are the numbers so good and are there any other possible reasons to why i have oil and coolant being where they shouldnt. sorry for the long post. thanks

You did a headgasket change before you went to school lol... thats so funny!, that dont mean your head gasket is leaking! it is def. leaking!! you seem semi knowledgable with your skills just take it back off now you have two choices rebuild or frehen it up at your local machine shop or have them resurface the head to make sure its straight then retap the thread for the headstud and by the way how did you do that?? use arp headstuds and torque them back down with a brand new headgasket! you should be good!
make sure you get you head decked. even if you tourk the head bolt down to spec. the unflat head will leak.anytime you remove the head you need to get it decked flat..
cool, thanks for the replies. i stripped the threads cuz im hella paranoid about torquing things down so i kept turning it a little even after the torque wrench clicked. and then a little more haha. so i know i have to resurface and redo everything, but can anyone tell me why or how the compression test results were good when the head gasket is leaking. in other words, arent the numbers supposed to be bad if there is a leak in the gasket? and is there anything else that could cause oil to mix with the coolant? thanks again
Oil can get into the coolant in a few ways. Maybe some dripped into the coolant passages when you had your head off (head oil drain passages run next to coolant passages). You were in a hurry to get your head gasket done before school, so maybe you didn't wait for all the oil to drain back into your block after parking the car where ever you worked on it. Another way is maybe your head gasket does leak but only does so when the engine is cold (warm engine expands the head gasket just enough to seal??). Who knows what caused it. You are going to have to do the head gasket again, and get the head resurfaced and perfectly flat. And definately get that thread fixed. There's what, 10 bolts holding your head to the block?? Lose one and thats 10% of the bolts.
