how to make block look new???
Ok so I picked up a b20z to put in my tucked and painted bay. well the idiot who had the motor before the guy I got it off of spray painted the entire thing black. So I took aicraft stripper in a can and got 99% off. So for the rest I thought I'd try sand blasting it off. Did that and the block is real dull and it just looks ugly. Is there an aluminum polishor something I can use to get that factory semi gloss looking engine block? I'd hate to do all that work to make my bay look nice and thro in an ugly motor. Thanks

Buy some of the Aluminum Hi Temp(gray) Block paint. It is the best out there
and looks the best too.

Sand blasting uses an abrasive particle with jagged edges. It results in a surface that has a 'tooth' or rough texture to it. This makes it appear matte or dull. Bead blasting will smooth it out so that the surface has a more 'hammered' or dimpled texture to it. It has a nice shiny look and stays a LOT cleaner as the rough surface will grab and hold everything that splashes, drips, spills or settles on it.
Be sure to bead blast at a lower pressure than you would use for abrasive blasting. 40-60 psi works well for me. Any more than that and you start shattering the glass beads.
Best of luck with your project.

if you paint it silver though, you have to paint the head and transmission silver as well to match it, my machine shop painted mine, but my transmission and head are just clean AL and it loos crappy IMO,. but i'm pretty **** about that
i found the Duplicolor DE 1650 Cast Coat Aluminum is almost a perfect match for the factory look. i went through 3 different cans of aluminum colored paint before i found this at pep boys, it's not chrome looking or dull gray, i will post some pics up tomorrow of some parts i painted with it.
