auto trans: shift lock help
So,my car wont' shift out of park without me sticking the key in the slot by the shifter and then moving the shifter into neutral, then starting the car.
Is there any easy way to disable this 'idiot proof' feature?
I'm the only person that uses the car, and not even anyone else rides in it!!! So I don't see any safety concern.
Thanks
Matt

mine fixed itself for a while... I ended up taking the trim piece around the shifter off, and using some skinny zip ties to hold the 'shift locker' back. So long as little kids and retards aren't in it, I see no problem with it. I ended up linking a couple of them together.... pics coming in a couple days!

There is a little hole in the 'shift button lock' mechanism I threaded it though, and this goes around the tab coming up from the floor that holds the trim cover in place.
