My driver's side outer CV boot is torn and splattering grease all over the inside of my tire however there is no clicking sound or noises when turning. I've read that you can buy entire axles at auto parts stores but I'm not sure of their quality and I don't want to skimp on quality because this is a safety issue part. Where would you purchase the necessary parts and would you all buy just the cv boot or the entire axle?

 

A Haynes manual will show you how to clean it and service the outer boot. You can just remove the outer boot, clean it, grease it, and put another boot on it. There's a special tool that you need to replace the bands, but you can probably get that from Autozone. They will loan it to you.

You can also get re-manufactured axles from places like Autozone, Advance Autoparts, or Autopart International. They might have a core charge. Hope that helps.

Just get a reman from autoparts store. It'll take half as much time and work to just replace it. Most of them have lifetime warranties as well.
