B series into my EK hatch, need some help
Hi guys. I hate to do this to you and just come here with my problems and I usually just try to do my own research myself but this is somewhat urgent.
I have a 2000 Civic, DX, with the stock D16Y7.
I found a dirt cheap 1996 CX hatch for sale with a B16A2 JDM motor in it. It's two grand.
The idea is to swap motors with my car, and flip it when it's stock. I think the loss will be minimal as I'm sure I'll be able to get like 1500 for it, stock (I hope). But either way it seems like a decent deal. I'm going to see it today or tomorrow, that's why I'm posting this.
Anyways, can someone just guide me through this a little here. The motor I believe is OBD1, my motor is OBD2B. I would need a conversion harness for my car, which is fine I can get that.
To swap my engine in his car... what do I need? Since he is OBD2A (96-98), it's not going to be a straight swap, right? Is it hard to make my engine work in that car? What do I need, some type of harness? I'm not sure how the current motor is wired (if he uses a connection harness or what). If he just wired it directly without a harness, is it a huge mess or is it relatively easy to make it work with my car?
Also, since his car doesn't have power steering or A/C, is that going to be a problem? Or do I simply not connect those things to my motor when I put it in his?
Will my PS and A/C still work with the B16A2? Any other problems you think I'll run into?
And lastly, can someone send me a link or something for an article on OBD2 vs one. I originally wanted to buy a motor that's OBD2B, like my car is, to keep things original if I was going to do a swap. But everyone seems to recommend going to OBD1, why? And can I do this with just a harness that plugs into mine with no cut wires? I hate hacking up my car.
Thanks so much for reading and potentially helping

since the motor is already in a civic, you will have a much easier time than if it was straight out of an integra. typically you need the rear t bracket, 2 post timing side bracket, an a/c bracket and a p/s bracket. you probably already have the first two. check the hybrid forum, there is a large discussion thread about obd1 engine into ob2 car. i'm in the midst of this swap right now and it is not as straightforward as some others. mind you since the engine is already in a civic, you have an advantage there.
assuming its jdm that would be B16A... B16A2 is from 99-00 si... Since it is in a civic already it should have all necessary items for the swap only (assuming it was done properly) thing you might want is a P2T ecu from the 99-00 si if it isnt already in there... i did the b16a swap in my 97 ex sedan so i didnt have to rewire anything just had to do the crank shaft fluctuation sensor bypass and the vtec pressure sensor bypass to get rid of the mil. I also had to extend the wires for the primary o2 sensor and i used an obd2a to obd2b jumper with the p2t ecu but i am making mine legit for california BAR...
As far as using AC and PS i know with 96-98 you need the ac bracket off delsol or crv... but since its going into 99-00 you might need the si ac bracket not to sure about that though
