b18b1 into 99 ek hatch ...help????
I'm looking into a swap right now and im deciding on a 99 b18b1, I was thinking about just getting the longblock because I can source one for cheap right now. I just want to make sure I know all the parts I'm going to need and if there are any problems I'm going to encounter. If anyone out there can halp me I would appreciate it.
Also looking possibly into getting it state referee bar'd...

b18b1?
you can source those for cheap all the time.
Just save until you can get the whole swap; less headaches that way you get everything you need from the same car/ shop
you should check out the faq's

I also vote for getting the complete swap all together. Especially if this is your first swap. Just remember b series = b series and d series = d series so you will need to replace just about everything. Nothing from your old d will work with the new motor.

So If I was to bar a b18b1 motor same year or newer for my EK hatch, Will I pass with a GSR transmission?? or do I have to use the LS transmission?

to OP: you should save up to get the complete swap. Even then, when doing the swap with complete engine, you'll find you're missing misc. parts like radiator hoses, vacuum lines, sensor plugs just to name a few.
Best thing is to change waterpump and timing belt (at least) before putting the LS in unless it was recently done. It should still be inspected, however.
