steady rpm's/speed highway then dies then back alive??
i have b16 boosted thats obd0 to obd1 tuned on chrome lalala. anywho it does it every once in awhile. if im at steady rpm/speed only on the highway the motor just dies. lights stays on everything then it come back alive then i gas it again it does again etc. if i dont give it a whole lot of gas it stays alive. any ideas???
subscribed...got sorta the same prob on my b16a...is i gas it fast it dosent wanna go past 3k rpm...ease onto the gas and it goes fine..sometimes.
Turn it off wait a few mins and its fine for a little bit.
then same thing all over.

mine is new also i change my tps cause it was bad didnt solve the probblem i hear that the fuse box under the hood can cause it as well
I had a similar problem with my ls b18 and it turned out to be the distributor, well a part in the distributor that was going out.. It sounds a lot like the same problem. It was intermittent and only seemed to happen on the highway... the thing is, testing a distributor for an intermittent problem is impossible. So make sure you eliminate all other problems before spending the 150 or 200 bucks on a distributor...

The electrical part of the ignition switch is a common failure as well. It is available seperately from the lock cylinder too. You may be able to verify this if you work the key ever so slightly back and forth while it is acting up. Course just enough to move the switch ever so slightly but not enough to engage the starter or shut the ign off. Hope this helps.
I would check your grounds. Also when does it occur? You say highway speeds, is it only when you reach a certain speed or does it do it when you stay at speed for a length of time?
just on the highway when im at like any steady rpm for awhile it happens. it almost seems as the whole car shuts off real quick then back on but the motor isnt running but like 4 sec later as im rolling it starts running again. but if i give it **** load of gas it just dies again. but if i give litt gas with out stomping on it it stay alive.
Sounds like could be fuel pump. Ive owned my CRX sibce 1996 but I'm a serious noob at this hotrod CRX stuff so I dont know what a "dizzy" is...
Check the FP connections for signs of getting hot.

Ok my stock civic was kind of doing the same thing, but mine would throw a code at you(code 4 I think) And it ended up being the dizzy to main wire harness connectors weren't connecting very well. It wasn't the wire themselves but the pins had worked their way loose and that was my problem.
Honestly to me and my experience this will be an electrical problem. It could be fuel but I think it would sputter or jump and not just cut off on you.
Also are you getting any codes at all?

ya it isnt my fuel pump. ya the check enigne light pops on once it happen then turns off after it happen again so i cant check it has it freakin happens. i know it has to be a electrical problem
i have had problems similar to this before. one time it was a main relay on my da. another time it was the fuel pressure regulator (it would stick open sometimes) on my b20 ef sedan. i also worked on a ef for someone else who had the same issue, and his problem was the horrible wiring job someone had done on it. im also trying to help my friend figure out his steady throttle "sputtering" issue that comes and goes as it pleases, but is never there when we are working on the car. sometimes it will go weeks without doing it, then do it for a few seconds, or a couple of days, then go away again.
good luck with figuring out the cause of your problem.

If that were the case you'd be getting a code 17 but Ive never seen a speed sensor cause an engine to loose power. Who knows, anythings possible. Any codes?
Does your speedo work? The speed sensor (speed pulser is Honda term on their wiring diagram) is on the back of the instrument cluster. HF, DX or Si.. So, if you got a working speedo then you have a speed sensor that should be too. If the swap to obd1 was done correctly and I bet it was, your pcm will be getting a speed signal even with the cable trans
I had the same issue on my 92 Vx B16a2. Any time I would hit high RPM's my hatch would shut down. My issue ended up being a bad ground (Battery to Chassis) I would start at the source and work you way down. Maybe you have a loose terminal.........
dirty injectors, fuel fillter, broken distribitor wires or harness wires or ground wires. also maybe the resistor box for the injectors! but when my crx did this it was the tps! try to change it out again!
ya i change my tps still same probblem. humm well i changed my vss to the 92 etc. becsue i have a jdm cluster i just havent put it in yet. so my cable isnt hooked up to my cluster. i havent even ran my wires for the vss yet either i changed a ground from the tranny to the body well see what happens. i ran Lucas oil fuel injector cleaner threw it even tho i run 94 did it anyways and it still seems to happen
so i went to check my cel and my jumper where i would jump it. doesnt work. so what pin do i ground to check my cel?? its a p28 a13?? but doesnt that go to my cluster?? ahh wait is it d4 that i ground??
