GSR headbolt threads stripped in block
NEED HELP i have a eg civic hatchback with gsr block b16 head. blew a head gasket then after getting the head back from the machine shop found out the headbolt threads were stripped on the block. ive considered a heli coil or timesert but ive heard of people retapping the block to hold a fatter head bolt. i know the gsr bolts are 11mm but idk the thread pitch. i want to retap the block for a 12mm head stud. can someone give me the dimensions on a stock gsr headbolt so i can order the right head studs and is it a good idea to do this
if it all comes down to it, you can put in a timesert. don't know how good they are on headbolts. i have done timeserts on spark plugs before, but this is the head we are talking about. there is a place here in SAC that does timeserts and will warranty it i think.
anyhow, the head bolt it 11 x 1.5mm, straight out the repair manual. 2 step torque, once to 22, then another time to 60ft lbs.

take it to a machine shope and have them do it right and have the rechase the thread that ways its being dont right and for that reasson if you blow the head gasket again you wont mess up ya motor
