My friend is having some wierd problems...need help.
My buddy from down the road is having some issues with his Type R that just stump me. He has a totally stock ITR with 55,000 kms on the car. He recently purchased an authentic Mugen N1 ECU and used it on his car a few times to drag race. He came to my house yesterday claiming that the car was sluggish after using the ECU a few days earlier. He was now using the stock ECU again and upon driving the car, it had a draw back in power at around 3000 rpms. It happens during casual driving and sometimes during acceleration. When I started the car i noticed that it idled very low, but would rev out clean. i did a compression test and it held 240psi on all cylinders, so I decided to check ignition timing at the distributor. When i pushed the dizzy full advance, the timing light registered a max of 13 degrees advance??? I told him to have his dizzy checked, to which he replaced the igniter with a genuine unit...same problem. He had the coil changed....same problem. What could be his issue??? Oh, i forgot that he admitted to me that he was tempted to see the Mugens redline, and took it to 9500rpms on stock everything
