Default ecu/distributor problem???

so i thought it was my timing because it felt like it was a tooth off on the cam gear. so i bought a new timing belt and redid the timing - still bad. i am thinking it might be either my distributor or my ecu. my car just feels like its a tooth off = basically no power and it puts up to revolutions - its not a clean sweep. anyone ever have a problem like this? its hard to explain so i am sure i will have to post a video or something to show you

This is a bit vauge. Post your setup and vids if you have them.
Troubleshooting information would help, like: What were you doing when it happened? how long ago? Has the car had it's regular maintenance? Did it happen all of a sudden, or over a period of time. Good plugs? Oil? etc....?

Have you performed any maintenance on the car recently, other than the timing belt? Is your check engine light illuminated? How many miles are on the car?

Dist. Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires, Fuel Filter, Valve Lash Adjustment, etc.

If all of the above has been done at the recommended intervals, you can troubleshoot the distributor with a Volt meter and a Helms manual.

well its a turbo integra HMT style - but done up decently. i had the car running ok with my old crome map. then out of knowhere it when i went up past like 5k it would spike and sputter. so i figured it might be my dizzy. i tried doing a petty cap and rotor - helped minimaly. then i heard that that problem is usually the ignitor, swapped it out for a new one - didnt do anything.
Then my buddys teggy got tuned on the dyno - made like 285whp - 265ft/lbs. since i had basically the same setup/car i got him to burn an extra copy of the map and i put it on my car. only thing i had to do was wire in an AEM 3.5bar map sensor -did it and the car ran SOOO much better, AFR wise(had an AEM wideband to make sure it was good), but still studdered past 5k.
then after all that one day i started it up and thought it was a bs code that put me in limp mode so i drove it around waiting for it to illuminate the CEL. but it didnt.
so i am figuring that it HAS to be the dizzy. if anyone has been like one tooth off in timing they know what type of power i am dealing with = NONE.

by the way i am not throwing any codes....i will try to put a movie on you-tube or something and post a link up.

thanks for your time guys!

That sure sounds like valve noise to me.

Did everything run good before you switched to the copied crome map? What were you tuned on before?

Even though he had a similar setup, all engines react to tuning differently, I would seriously recomend getting a professional dyno tune.

Maybe somebody else will have better insight..

It is a little hard to hear well, it sounds like an exhaust leak from only one header to me, extra O2 getting in there will mess up the O2 sensor and mess up idle and drivability. Can you please do one more with a friend doing the throttle and you stand further away in front of the engine please. Different distances and some RPM revs please.

I am on old fart and have no idea how to upload for YouTube, is there a tutorial page or can you guide please.

Check for an exhaust leak or cracked manifold. Sounds like every fire to me.
Or, pull off the valve cover and check your cam gears.
