Del Sol - The Antenna Dilemma
Hello everyone,
I recently bought a 1995 Honda Del Sol Vtec. I'm loving the vehicle, however, I can't stand the fact that my radio stations have so much static. The OEM antenna is missing. I'm thinking of putting an Antenna Block Off Plate there and mounting and interior antenna. I saw a picture of an antenna that was flat somewhere but I can't seem to find what it is. Anybody know? Are there any alternatives to mounting the antenna in the interior or anywhere else on the vehicle? Thanks.

I had a green sol I purchased way back for my first sol. It had a "fuba antenna" I believe it was called, mounted dead center on the roof panel located directly behind where the targa top is, and it looked pretty great. The actuall antenna was about 2.5 in. long, slanted backward, and I had where the old antenna had mounted up shaved.
Unfortunately, I never took a picture of the antenna itself mounted up, and I dont have any good pics of it hooked up, but if you look real close in this picture, dead center on that roof panel, you can kinda see the little black metal antenna somewhere in the wreckage haha:

I'm never really on honda-tech, but feel free to hit me up by e-mail if you want more info about this; i'm sure i could look up the product specifications/part number's online, and you could probably pick one up for like 20-30 bucks new online. My radio reception worked great with it,and personally i think it looked great as well. my email's: kssimmon@gmail.com . good luck with it, hit me up if you want me to research it a bit more for you

The other thing to try, get a generic manual antenna, and place it inside the trunk/wheel well behind the carpet. A lot of del Sol owners did that to clean up the exterior, and it still picks up a fair amount of reception.... probably as good or better than the flat windshield antennas.

Get a power antenna for you sol. One of my best investments. Or if you don't want power this site has a manual one:

you can get an aftermarket replacement manual antenna on ebay.
Mine was $14, and fit where the OEM one goes. It also comes with the tool you use to install it with.
(Tho, I'd like to get a power one

I am actually doing the S2000 antenna conversion on mine. Figured out an easy way to make it work, only cost like 20-30 using OEM parts. If anyone is looking to do it you can PM me and I can fill you in a little.
Get a cheap hidden antenna off eBay. I had one and it worked pretty well. It picked up stations my factory antenna didn't...and I didn't even have the power wire hooked up to the antenna.
I think I'm going to shave my antenna hole and get another.

Okay, so I finally took a pic of the S2000 antenna conversion I did to my del sol. I thought it turned out nice enough, I guess you guys can tell me if you agree. You will have to excuse my cars horribly dirty appearance, Wisconsin fall/winters are not friendly and there is almost no point in washing it when you get rain or snow so often.
I did the OEM blockoff, and will take a pic later tonight. Went with a amplified one, but I haven't had the car running, so I cant tell you about that.
The S2000 looks pretty nice tho, I may do that to my 94!
Does it go in like oem? or do you have to mod anything?
