so i'm switching my i/m and the old gasket is pretty much stuck on the head. i tried shaving it off with a box cutter, but that didn't work to well. Any tips on removing the gasket? should i try sanding it off?
i just took a razor blade and scraped at it. also used the edge of a flathead screwdriver to slice through it then the flat part to try and scrape it off. it's a bitch. took me like an hour to get it all off. have fun. lol

Then use this tool with a drill to remove the residual gasket and recondition the gasket mating surfaces

AHHH, its a bitch, i used the scraper tool with the razor blade. So this is the only way huh? i guess i'll finish the rest of it tomrrow. thanks guys.
Oh yeah it's a total b****. I swapped for the skunk2 IM 2 weeks ago with a friend and we scraped with razor blades for like 2 1/2 hours. When we finally finished after about 7 hours one of the injector O rings leaked so I couldn't even drive it home from our shop that night.
Using a spray on gasket remover helps a lot, although it still takes for ever. You can put some paper towels in the manifold or head so that the spray does not get in.
yea just spend an hour or so scraping it off, usually around the coolant port its the most difficult. Just time and patience... and dont' sand it, do you really want small gasket particles getting into the head?
