remove intake manifold when changing gasket?
do i have to remove the whole intake manifold when i'm changing the gasket or can i just unbolt it and slide in the gasket? how hard is it to remove the gasket? i'm guessing if it's stuck on there then i gotta remove the IM.

You have to unbolt it and remove it just like you would with any other gasket. Most likely pieces the old gasket will be stuck on the head and you will have to scrape that stuff off, but be careful not to scratch the head.

I use WD40 and a flathead to take off gaskets. Put some WD40 on the new gasket so next time its not as stuck.
Also you have to take the whole manifold off to do it.

maybe also plug the holes with some newspaper or something to keep from getting gasket in there while you scrape.

i tried EVERYTHING to get my old gasket off. it's not going to be as easy as it seems. it is a very tedious job. i used a razor and some gasket remover (it helps a little in making the gasket soggy). Took me at least 2 hours + break time to finish the job good.
