Deceleration , and the headlights dim?
Seems pretty consistant.
mostly noticde first thing in the morning, and going through my neighborhood at 30mph.
Let off the gas and I can easily notice the headlights dimming. rev it up and they get brighter.
The other symptom I see is during high RPM pulls, the car will stumble hard and throw me forward in the seat.
I'm almost positive what it is, but I would like to see what you techs think before I throw parts at her.

I don't get the stumble part but I am in the same boat when it comes to headlights. I was told awhile ago it could be a grounding issue, fairly common, and I haven't gotten around to it. FTW, my battery and alternator are good.
Sounds like you might have a combo of problems. What engine, tranny, and model are you using for a driver.

well im not positive the 2 are related, could be seperate problems.
I am leaning towards an alternator.
Another symptom - battery is always close to dead. 5 minutes of listening to the radio or leaving the lights on and it will be too dead to start the car.
I am going to load test the alternator first because they are kind of spendy.
could it be a bad battery cause this as well?
FWIW - 95 d16z6, no clue how old the alternator is. 248,000 miles, engine has been rebuilt, but maybe the same alternator was used.

replace that battery...not only will it stop the hassle of worrying about if your car will start, it may fix your problem. Next thing to check after that is def the alternator. Get a meter and check all of your connections, see how solid all of your currents are. Check all of your grounds, sounds stupid and simple but it will certainly do something like *** with your headlights and there output....
