Default ls vtec serious coolant leak

went to drive my car last night, took it around the block and when i pulled back into the driveway there was smoke rolling out of my hood and i could smell the coolant, well i was told the nipple that comes off the head and aims toward the back of the motor wasnt suppose to be hooked up to anything, its right where the upper radiator hose goes into the head. I looked at a diagram but its too confusing. I know its something simple. I just cant see where it would run to?

Check for a cracked radiator (usually a hairline crack near the top to the side, the OEM radiators are aluminum/plastic) or burst coolant hose. Top off the radiator, start and run the car, with the hood open you should see where it is coming from.

The bleed bolt shouldn't have any to do with it.
