Looking to do the same, 6th gen, '00 Accord SE. Basically same question. I'm trying to figure out where to find a tranny. Got a salvage yard nearby so I can look there, but I'm wondering how worthwhile that is. If I find one, how do I know that it's good?

You're asking about full manual kits. Is that a better option than a donor car? Can you find a donor, rebuild it and put it in for less than a full manual kit?

Sorry, I'm not helping you much.

well personally i don't have too much of a problem getting a donor car for cheaper parts. you can always replace the major parts that do the work on a manual transmission.

manuals>automatic funner and faster

but the idea of a full manual kit sounds great. everyone likes new parts. i doubt there will be a place that has a full kit but probably partial kits

There is no "off the shelf KIT" for this conversion. I found myself a donor car. Sometimes you end up with lemon **** and sometimes you dont. Its kinda a gamble, I would recommend getting your parts from a salvage yard or atleast a shop who will give your trans atleast a 60 day warranty just to be safe. You might have to install the trans twice if the first one is a lemon. But atleast it was covered under warranty and you didnt have to pay for it.

Your going to attempt this yourself? I see these kinds of questions ALOT man, and the thing I think of. If you dont know what you need then how are you going to know how it works or how to install it.
There are a few write ups here and there for the conversion. But write ups will NOT take the place of the actuall ability to do the work yourself.
If you have ever dropped the trans yourself im sure you could do the conversion. But if the only thing you have ever done to the car is put gas in the car or put on your fancy little short ram intake, I would look into having someone else do the work.
I dont want to deter you from working on your car, but its not an "easy" task. It takes some "for real" mechanical ability.
You have to start somewhere though. GL

EDIT* forgot the list lol.
GENERAL LIST

No disagreement there. Like you said, have to start somewhere. I found the FAQ's and the write up for my 6th gen as well. Mine's not a daily driver so I can take my time and learn as I go. Got tools, help, space, etc. So I'm up to the challenge

I work on my vehicles all the time. Just haven't done this. Never had to replace a tranny. There's a first time for everything.
