what if a cylinder is not working....?
i'm just wondering is there an instance when you're only running 3 cylinder instead of 4 due to engine problem? what kind of problems would that be?
lastly, how can you check if your engine is running only 3 cylinders instead of 4?
thanks.

um well if its running on 3 cylinders your gonna know
its gonna idle like ****
and have no power
to check take the spark plug wires out while the engine is running, if the idle gets WORSE in 3 of the 4 cylinders, 1 cylinder isnt getting fuel/spark. you will hear an audible spark if you pull the spark plug wires just an inch or 2.
if you have spark in all 4 1 of the cylinders may not be getting fuel
that is a point if you dont know what your doing take it to a mechanic.
one of my injectors broke 2 weeks ago and i was running on 3 cylinders.

Kamin,
i tried pulling the spark plug and i could hear the spark but you said that when you pulled a wire the idle will get worse, do you mean as long as the wire is pulled it will idle like hell? coz when i pulled mine, it idle like **** for about 2 seconds and then it idles fine again. is that normal or should it idle like **** while the wire isn't put back in yet? i'm kinda confused

What he is saying is this. If you pull one of the plug wires and it doesn't change the idle in anyway, its the problem one.
If you suspect one, remove the spark plug and check it out. Why not pull them all. You just may find the problem, they know whats going on in there.

Here's an even easier way. In the morning (engine cold), start it up. Right away get out and touch, yes, with your hand, each exhaust header tube. The bad one will stay cold.
Obviousely once the engine has run about 30 seconds the above will result in burns... so you get one shot before having to let it all cool down again.

I have got the same problem for a month. My car is Honda Vigor with 5 cylinders. When I pull out the spark plug of the No.1 cylinder, the idle drops down just 2 SECONDS, then becomes the same. but if I pull out any one of others, it drops down a lot. I have checked the spark, it is good and then checked the injector, it is good. Thank you for any suggestions and ideas!

extremely easy way to tell, first though check spark, pull the plug and attach it to a spark plug and just lay it on yoru valve cover not touching anything, have someone crank it and see if theres spark, if theres spark and cylinder is not firing, check fuel, could be a clogged injector too.

Hi EVIL Teken
Thanks for such usefull introductions!
There are not so many people know Honda Vigor very well( it is out of date maybe)and I should say you know the Honda Vigor very well.
But it is really hard job to check th car as your introduction, isn't it? First I really do not know how to take the distributor cap off as Vigor's cap position just at the end of the engine and no room even for one hand. Secondly, "The model year for the Vigor would point me to ask you to replace that cable... "Where is "that cable"?
Cheers
