B16 stroked to b17.. questions, help!
Okay, so I have a b16 block sitting in the garage, threw a rod bearing. 1st off, can I have the crank polished or something? 2nd, I can get a b17 crank, rods and pistons for $125. Guy through in pistons for free, everything looks good from pics. I know the b17 will bump up displacement .1, jumps about 98cc's. I know its basically the same motor as the b16, but what would be the benefits to doing this if any, the tq and hp are basically the same, b16 has 10 more for pr3 and b17 has 1 more tq. If I were to put some ctr pistons in it with either crank and rods, what would be the difference besides the compression ration? Would this be worth buying the b17 crank and rods, or what?
Also, I bought a b16 (pr3) motor from hmotors like 4 years ago, ran the motor and when I threw a rod bearing and opened up the motor, it had p30 pistons in it. Ive never messed or anyone else since I bought the motor.. Is that like seeing a green man walking down the street or what?
Thanks for the advice/help in advance.

awesome advice.
Anyway.... the pistons inside the B17A are low compression. If one were to change the pistons out to say those of a P30, you'd in theory get more power than the JDM rated B16As (170bhp) because of your added displacement.
This is of course taking into consideration that everything else is healthy inside your motor.

The Deck hieght is .07 higher on the B17A block, so you will not be able to use the crank and rods for your B16A, The pistons will come out of the top and hit the head and valves, you can put a head from a B16 on a B17 and vise versa, but can use the B16A stuff for the B17A (lower commpression then B16A this way), the rod lenth on the B17A is shorter and the crank is longer (stroker), the DECK HIEGHT IS . BTW I NEED YOUR B17A Crank pistons and what not becuase I have a B17A block but wish for the B17 crank. B17a Rod length, 5.208" B16a Rod length, 5.290. B16A deck = 172.50, the B17A Deck hieght is 172.57. I have a B17A block here and need the crank and pistons lemme know I will give you more then you paid.

From what I know the B16A and B17A blocks are identical except for the engine stamps on the block. You just want his crankshaft

B16A Gen 2: 170 PS and 111 TQ (Around 165 HP) 10.4 comp (p30 pistons)
B17A1: 160 HP and 117 TQ 9.7 comp
B18C1: 170 HP and 128 TQ 10.1 comp
In my opinion if you are going to rebuild your engine anyways why not up your displacement alittle. If you use the B17A crankshaft and rods with P30 pistons you compression will be right around 11 to 1. Also you will up your TQ also. Unfotunately I have CTR (PCT) pistons in my setup and the compression is 12.5 to 1. I bought the short block like with the pistons already in it. The engine pings/knocks alittle. Need to get a better tune. LOL Or it might just be the 91 octane (California swill) and I just need 100 octane. Right now I have no traction in 1st gear as soon as vtec engages the tire spins even when I'm on a 5-10 mph roll. I had a B16A gen 2 before and it never did that. So the extra TQ is worth it.
