440 hp at 24psi

only run like 19 psi on the street

i am running the ngk v power plugs r5671a-9

is this plug right for this power level?

what should i gap to?

car is sputtering on a new set of plugs after about 300miles. 2 19 psi pulls couple more at 14 psi and about 300 miles of highway driving. sound normal?

 

I would run NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs heat range 8...gapped around 25

 

i thought i read that iridium are not good. people having probs with the tips breaking off. copper is better right?

 

Cheap iridium are not good. Avoid Denso, Bosch, etc, as I've never had a good experience with any of their plugs in a performance application. I wasn't a big fan of iridiums for a long time, but after talking long and hard with a rep at PRI, harrassing NGK via phone, and using enough NGK Iridiums I'm a believer.

I also like the older non-resistor steel electrode NGK race plugs, R5671A-x. In a B-series you'll want an 8, so R5671A-8. It's what I'd run, the only reason to go to iridiums on a B-series is if you have a Hondata S300; their daughterboards are poorly shielded and susceptible to EMI.

 

i am running s200.

 

iridium is around 600% harder than a conventional copper core tip and will produce a better spark.

 

go on... what about a chipped obd1 with lets say ectune.

i ran r5671a's for a while without issue w/ obd0. they are cheap, and come real cold.

 

for that psi level of 19 on the street, I'll use the ngk 7 and gap them at around .025-.028

 

care to share a part number?

or should i just use what is reccomended for my car but in a 7 heat range?

7's seems too hot for your setup and HP range.

 

So the ngk racing plug over the brk7e? Or would the racing plug be better only if you have s300?

 

can you read? do a google search on EMI and the purpose of a resistor plug.

 

As other's have stated, R5671A-8 aka 4554 is the all-around plug people use with B-series. By the time you max them out and upgrade from pump gas they are perfect again. I've made 804 whp off of that plug and eCtune if you're worried about the combo.



You're going to be hard pressed to find a copper tipped plug. Copper core, maybe, but not tip.

I've never seen a comparison involving an iridium, but I doubt they produce a better spark. The pointy tip of an iridium - much like platinum, or "funny" shaped electrode plugs - makes it easier for the ignition energy to jump the plug's airgap which dictates a weaker spark. GRM did an article on this 8-10 years back, and V=IR with and eye to P=VI (basic equations for the relationships of voltage, amperage, resistance, and power) concurs.

That being said, as long as the plug works then don't worry about it. It's splitting hairs.
