Default ebay turbo kit question

these kits generally range from 700 to 1000$, and are prone to break but what if i use the piping and innercooler and just replace the turbo, will that do me any good because really i would like to boost my b18b1 but will not pay 3000$ + for a kit

I bought Ic piping a radiator and an Intercooler from ebay. Its been on for about 2 weeks and the only thing that took a **** was the radiator. The Ic piping should be fine but from what I hear the Intercooler gets heat soaked and is not as efficient.

i've seen lots of people run ebay intercooler piping and stuff and never have a problem with them. piping is piping dude. as far as the intercooler, i can't see that if your going to be pushing 10 psi, that it would hinder performance that much.

I'll answer your question. Don't get it.

Sure piping is piping. You might as well use plastic stuff from Home Depot at those prices. If your going to replace half the stuff in the kit why bother? For $1000 you could buy some really sweet used stuff from the Classified section. Piece together a setup and you'll be much happier. Plus it will be a lot more reliable than an ebay kit.

You get what you pay for.

Or piece together the turbo kit like "paton5g" said. If you are willing to spend up to 2k on this why not buy name brand used parts? Ebay junk has terrible fitment, poor quality, and not worth the money in my opinion. Dont go cheap on this.

well then maybe you should consider doing some research and then piece a kit together. Its really not that difficult to find the parts you need.

What about the price your mechanic will charge you for the install. What about the cost of getting it tuned? Might as well save up some more and purchase a quality kit that has some real R & D behind it, not some guy copying a design and selling it on Ebay.

I pieced together my turbo kit and it was very easy. I spent about $1500 and none of it was an Ebay product. Just took some time waiting for what I needed to be for sale. Greddy, turbonetics, Rev Hard, Precision, etc. Some parts were new but most were used. Go to the forced induction forum and look in the FAQ's. If you can't figure out what is needed and how to install it from the VERY easy to understand directions then theres a problem.

This is what I used when piecing together my kit. There are tons of used parts for sale here on H-T from quality companies.

The best thing for you to do.... is leave the Integra Forum .... and head to the Forced Induction Forum. And you will find ALL your anwsers there. And YES, stay away from the Ebay Kits. I have a full kit for sale, minus tune and injectors, PM if your interested.

here ya go. i found this link for you. and you too op! lots of people use them. i know people on h-t that use ebay turbo parts. i know people with 500 hp small blocks with ebay parts. maybe YOU should go to the forced induction forum and read a little bit yourself.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/noobs-ebay-turbos-your-questions-answered-1749857/ i'm not saying the whole kit is good, but some of the parts are pretty damn decent, and for a cheap price. go meet some people in there that have been pushing 300 hp+ for the last 4 years on ebay turbo kits, with absolutely no problems. from seeing issues with this part, or that part, ususally it was a poor installation, or just abuse, a bad tune, or some jack *** didn't know what he was doing when he decided to push 20 psi through a stock ls. gee i wonder why it broke? do some research, put a kit together, and DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, and you too can have a boosted reliable car for under a grand.

Just because it's on ebay dosen't mean it's good or bad. If you know how the system will work and what adjusting one part will do, then source the parts and do it yourself. If you know some one that has a kit, and like what it does, get that kit. If a local shop will recomend and install a kit for you, drive what they have installed., and pay them.

The piping and intercooler are probably fine, however, the turbo and the manifold is where the problems with these kits lie. The manifolds tend to crack and the turbos tend to get screwed up (usually something to do with an oil thing)
