Default Should I?

I own a Automatic acura integra 92, and its been bothering me while one group tells me manual is better then the other group is like eeeh why manual now stick with the auto... sooo i decided to come to you guys.. im planning on doing some engine/jdm conversion soon enough on my automatic... is it worth it? what are the pro's and cons of a automatic? can a automatic own on a drag strip (and im talking about these cars) well my engine is a B18A1 and im getting off full factory bone stock engine 140hp, so yeah should i? this is what im working with...

soon to come are ROTA track R's (white chrome lip and then be cheap and put the sprint harts decals on dem xD and red lugs long ones) and jdm head lights and the drops once track r's are on
The car interior is 9/10 which i love, everything is stock, and i worry about starting all over with another DA

If it was any other company like Toyota or Mitsubishi, the auto tranny wouldnt matter.

But Honda, the auto tranny sucks, honda didnt build a strong auto tranny. My b20z pushing 150whp used a auto tranny for a while. blew that out, installed a ITR tranny, was much faster!!

Your better off swapping.

MANUAL.

I'll never buy Auto, I love the feel of a manual transmission. Offers your much more control and is FUN. The conversion is straight forward and if you're doing a swap, it will be easy with the engine out of the way. Go to the wreckers to source the parts, it won't be very difficult.

Ive spoken to one of my friends and we talked about going to a local junk yard and picking up the manual trans and probably a b20 from a civic si we seen laying in there in great condition with 70k....... 0.0 ............ lol of course where gonna have to take everythinggggg else out of it lol imma go with it, screw the auto lol, but if i where to do it by having all the parts already what would be the estimate for the labor on the conversion

before i sold my turbo 5.0 ( 306 stroker with gt40x heads ) i had a powerglide auto with a 3000rpm stall convertor, and tranny break.... that was great a tthe track...hold the lock out spool the turbo too full bost at 3000rpm, when the light was green releas the tranny botton and BAMM...1.4 60 foot and 10.3 at 136 mph... 2speed ftw.

there are some companys that make auto trannys for honda, i would buy a better convertor, and get the internals upgraded, plus better shift selinoids. but you will loos alot of daily driveabilty...

also probly will cost more then a auto to mannual conversion... i would look for a b16 tranny, and light weight flywheel and decent street clutch.

Yeah then again the money and time really add up on my part, im going much more on the side of staying automatic and spending the time and money on the engine and body for now till later on in the future if im not happy with the performance then bamm automatic is gone.. or better yet i might just go and buy my other favorite honda which is 91 CRX and have that manual and this one for looks, anyone agree? or any more advise and thanks on the ones who replied to this post.

No worries.
Keep it till the tranny blows and then swap to a manual.

no your right, better gas mileage CAN be had with the correct shifting. then there's people like myself who like to see their shift light daily.... not so gas friendly.

I converted my DA to manual and have had nothing but problems..
My clutch never stays constant..
And occasionally just randomly drops to the floor..

Might just be my car lol but i've had a number of issues..

But, if you decide to swap it over, i can give you some tips on that too lol
was a groooooowling process

I was worrying about that aswell, just thinking about the conversion in pictures brings day dream nightmares lol i made it final and i will keep this d.a for looks by the conversion and sell it (they always go fast) and just commute with it, and either buy a corolla 1.8 or CRX (im tooooo in love with HONDA's) But i would like to say thanks to you guys for steering my mind into the right direction and not get screwed with the auto, so its final just looks on the d.a and long trips on vacations with it no engine work.
