Default Alternator hell!!!!!!!!!

Ok I am done with my swap and want to drive the car. I find out the alternator that came with the swap doesnt work.

I went to Autozone and got a rebuilt unit. I installed it and cranked the car. I have 11.45 volts at the battery and "0" volts at the alternator mast(the thick white wire on top)

I cleaned, checked and reinstalled all grounds. The car starts right up every time.

I am removing the rebuilt unit and going to have it checked!!!!! If anyone can offer some help in the mean time I would appreciate it.

To sum it up I have voltage at the plug that plugs into the back of the alternator. With the car running there is "0" votage at the thick white wire on top of the alternator. I figured I would at least have battery voltage there.

Thanks,

Still doesnt charge. I checked all of the under hood/under dash fuses. There was a 10amp fuse under the dash for the alternator solenoid and it was also good. I grounded the alternator etc...

Shouldnt I have battery voltage at the thick white wire that goes on top the alternator even with the car off?

I have "0" voltage at the alternator mast (thick white wire) with the car off or running.

Anyone?

I appreciate it man.

I am thinking I should always have voltage at the white wire on top of the alternator. Maybe with the car being an 88 Si it doesnt have an ELD (electronic load detector)

I dont know but I hope someone does.

97 spec B18CR into a 1988 CRX Si OBD2A

Have you driven the car around or took it on the highway and then tested the battery?

If the battery does not charge after a long run, then its the battery itself.

"0" volts at alternator post with the car running. I wouldnt make it far if I drove it.

BTW: The car does have an ELD in the fuse box. Maybe its bad.

The big white wire on the alternator is supposed to have at a minimum battery voltage. If no voltage the alternator won't be charging as it's not connnected to the battery. Also you need to have voltage on the blk/yel and Wht/Blu wires on the three wire plug otherwise the voltage regulator won't know what to do. And lastly make sure the Yellow wire is connected to the ECU again the regulator won't know what to do

you may also have a break in the white wire, do a continuity test.
