Default 93 del sol trunk lid Heavy?

Hey just got a del sol and the trunk doesn't stay open by itself but lifting it up feels like I'm lifting over 100 lbs (100lbs at least if not more). Just curious if this is just how heavy it's supposed to be or maybe there is something in there (looks like the previous owner may have stuffed it with something???). There is a wing/spoiler but I can lift that with a few fingers. Any ideas out there??

pics? maybe they put some sound deadening in it. Or the lift mechanism could be broken. If it has sound deadener, especially the spray in type, I would get a new/junkyard trunk lid. I made the mistake of putting the adhesive type in my car, now I regret it.

That's exactly what they do when the hydraulic lifts go bad. Just go get some new ones. they're not expensive, and you'll love yourself for spending the money once you have them in. I'm on my 3rd sol and had this issue on all of them.

Seems easy enough, I'll try to get some pics of it up here in about 5 hours from now (please no negative comments on the way it looks though, it's pretty bad but I did get it under kbb ).
