B18C5 in 2000 Civic Si Chassis. What ECU?
I dropped a b1c5 USDM ITR motor in my 2000 Civic Si. Using a B16A2 Engine harness. What ecu and setup will I need to get this running properly without spending a lot? I was told the following are worth a try.
P28 w/ OBD1-OBD2B Jumper
OBD2B P72
p73 w/ OBD2A-OBD2B Jumper
If there are any other options please let me know.

You will need and obd2b P73 ecu if you want it to hook right up to your 99-00 civic si harness. 96-98 swaps are obd2a and 99-01 swaps are obd2b.A p28 ecu chipped would work with your swap but you would need the conversion harness.
according to some. to use the OBD2B P73, I need to bypass the factory immobilizer which i hear is hectic...is this true...lemme know some more options or an easier way to bypass it...
Thanks
Thanks
Easy, cheap suggestion. Get a P28 reprogrammed(OBD 1 ECU from a 92-95 Si and EX) for DOHC specs and run an OBD2-OBD1 converter harness. Prolly the easiest, most hassle free way to do it. GL
the obd1 ecu with a conversion harness will work great.. Just remember that if you have emissions testing in your state you will need an obd2 ecu to pass. For now you can get away with your p2t that came in your 2000 si, from what I can see its as good as the obd2a ecu from the gsr.
Or, you can PM Katman. For a reasonable fee (think he was charging around $100), you can send your ECU to him and he will install a dummy chip where the immobilizer was that will disable the immobilizer and not throw a CEL.
These are your only two reasonable options if you want to use an immobilized OBD2B ECU in a car that it wasn't intended for. It applies to OBD2B ITRs, GSRs, and some H22s. I've heard of other ways, but they involve getting honda to program keys for you, which I'm sure they frown on for this sort of thing.
I'm not 100% sure about California, but from the horror stories I've heard, I don't think you'll pass inspection with an OBD1 or OBD2a computer in an OBD2b car.

California is strict about inspection.Since yours motor is USDM B18c5 here is a link to make a jdm itr bar'd,you get the idea,do all that with everything hooked up and you will pass.

the plugs are different from 96-98 and 99-00. You would have to run a OBD converter harness in order to use a different R computer.

I run an obd2b p73 I think is the one. Whatever one is obd2b and I just removed the immobilizer. I have that crappy constant CEL but I have the stock P2T to put in just to pass inspection. Doesn't run good but I drove it with the P2T for about a month with no issues. Just don't get on it.
I also have a p28 with crome ready for a tune as soon as I can find someone to do it for me.
That seems to be the hard part right now.
