just put my old gsr motor into a new shell, only cel left is 21 (vtec solenoid malfunction). The shell is a 95 Special Edition. I got a gsr dash harness and new engine harness for it, installed them, everything works, only cel is 21.

These are the things ive done to work with it, im sure its going to be a simple fix, im just overlooking it and any sugestions would help.

1. Cleaned solenoid screen
2. Swapped another p72
3. Swapped another gsr vtec solenoid
4. checked ground and signal wires
5. Checked oil pressure (idle and under load)
6. reset ecu after every attempt

The solenoid and ecu i swapped to try and fix are both proven to work off of another car i used to drive.

Final twist:

after each part swap and reset, before starting engine and test driving, code 21 is still showing. This leads me to believe (obviously) that it is an electrical problem, not mechanical. Please....Sugestions

 

only way is to trace the wire back and look for a break or short.... have fun that **** sucks...

 

thats what im scared of...i might just run a new wire all the way

 

You might be over looking the ovious, I know you said you check oil pressure and all but the codes been known to show up when the oil level is low also.

checked both solenoids to see if they were working, both are good, oil levels fine, im going to run a wire to the ecu and see what happens

 

check the wire near the ecu and make sure its not loose my buddys came loose on him just after we pined it into the harness

 

well, i got it fixed. the "uncut" harness was.......cut. i hate my life. problem solved though. i apreciate everyones opinion though.
