Alright might be a dumb question coming up here but what the hell..wont know if you dont ask. okay so ive got a set of skunk2 tuner series cams in the ol dino now and getting ready to get some cam gears and get it tuned. Heres the question...is the ecu going to be able to manage the change...like keep up with the a/f ratio. If not what parts should i get before tuned?
Hey, not sure but thot i'd reply since you've been waiting for ages, lol
I think by the time you uprate you're cams an pulleys an stuff that it's time to change the stock ECU. not sure on the stock capabilities but you'd get more benefit with a new one probably.

haha yeah im impatient. lol. well i have UR pulleys. and true i think? but what do i change it to. im not pushing much power just trying to get ever hp out of what i have. I know the mannie and TB will flow enough. i just dont want to run it lean
look into engine management software and access to a wideband O2 sensor for tuning when messing with the cams.
any change on the Intake cam with change your timing as well so remember that before you start turning cam gears

much obliged. ive got a lab top dyno...it plugs into the obd II port. ive got access to live data so do i just need a wideband O2 sensor. im looking for more in the midrange. Thinking about just retard exhaust cam only? any thoughts..do you think i will have to boost fuel pressure as well.
Honestly, there's a lot you should research regarding camshafts and engine operation before you start turning those gears.
cams should be degree'd when they're dropped in and measurements should be taken and written down.
valve-to-valve clearance will tell you how far you can turn the cam gears before you smack valves together.
piston-to-valve will tell you if you're going to smash the valves into the piston when vtec hits...
research on those and realize that without degreeing, dropping in the cams and leaving the gears at 0,0 doesn't mean it's actually at true 0,0.

wow...thats an eye opener. its really easy to over look that that kinda stuff and screw crap up...none of that crossed my mined. thanks man. sounds like i should just take it up to adrenaline and have them mess with it.
yah man, a lot of people think they can just drop in cams, and gain instant 15whp (not entirely impossible
there's a lot more to it! i'm still learning as my cams are making no power since i did not degree them...
something i'm going to get to soon. good luck buddy!
