So ever since I replaced my ignition column (had to due to an attemptive theft) my beeper that alarms you when your keys are left in the ignition and you open the door beeps even when my keys are not in. In other words: Door is open, keys are not in the ignition, but the beeper still goes off. This is incredibly annoying when you are trying to work on your car. I usually just end up pulling the battery cable. Any idea what could have caused this? Could I have gotten an ignition column that isn't compatible with my 99 hatch? Did I screw something up during the install?
Please help me with this annoying problem.
*UPDATE*So for anyone searching with the same problem: It was something with the wiring of my new ignition column. So I just used the new ignition column and the old wiring. Beeping problem fixed. This also fixed my headlight beeping problem (the alarm wouldn't sound like it should if I left my headlights on).

i never liked the fact that it beeped or lockd when the keys out. so i took everything apart.....the ignition, where the key goes in..underneath it (from the bottom) is a little pin that slides to lock the wheel i glued it open...for the beeping there is a very small plug that you can just snip or unplug....thats what i did. no beeping no locking.

Next time you have your key in the ignition try wiggling it while pulling it out.
I have the same problem with my 93 accord.
Like rick rabies said, there is a small pin on the bottom of it. That just gets gunky and stuck over time.

I vaguely remember a little black pin on the bottom of the ignition column. Is this what you guys are talking about?
