Icon3 Serious running issues, desperately need help!

I have a 91 Integra with the stock LS. It burns oil, more than I thought. I ran low on oil the other night and threw a check engine light. Started misfiring and kicking in the rev limiter at 2,500 rpm. Refilled the oil and found the #2 cyl spark plug was fouled. Black, running rich and also some oil on it. Cyl 1, 3, 4 spark plugs were white, running lean. I changed the plugs and it started idling smooth again. As soon as I gave it a rev the limiter kicked in at 2,500 rpm again, started misfiring again, check engine light came back on.

I can't read the check engine light because every time I shut the car off the light clears. Start the car, no light at first, then after running a few seconds the engine starts missing and the light comes on. The way to read the light is to jump the two terminals at the passenger side kick panel right?

I'm stuck and this is my daily, any help would be great!

yes the two terminals just bridge the with a paper clip and have the car running with the light on while you do it once you get the code then people can help you out more

also it could be your head gasket... if your plugs are white that could mean you are burning coolant in cylinders 1,3,&4 and the gasket might be letting oil pass in cylinder 2. Also it could be bad rings in Cylinder 2 but you cant tell until you remove the head. But as far as your rev limiter issues, yea we will need the codes first...

OK, long story short... my distributor is f**ked! O-ring is leaking and oil got into the cap.

Well, changed the distributor and still have the same problems. I'm sparking on all four cylinders now, but it still breaks up under a load and still won't rev past 2,500 rpm. I tried jumping the terminals with the car running while the light is on but it won't work... no flash codes, just a solid check engine light. I'm jumping the gray plug with two terminals. The only other plug not used at the passenger side kick panel is white with three wires. How do I get my codes? Is my ECM possibly bad? My car went from running great to being a piece of crap literally over night!

if this is a stock 91 ls you dont read the codes by looking at the cel, no jumper needed
they are OBD0
just turn the key to run (dont try to start it)
pull the passenger carpet down to reveal your ecu
the led in the center of your ecu will be flashing your codes

and any time you throw a cel, just look at the ecu led,
you dont even need to cut the car off if you dont want to

just like an ef

Didn't know about the led on the computer, thanks! Anyway, it turned out to be a loose injector plug. The little metal spring/clip that holds the injector plug on was missing and the plug came loose. Thanks for all the help though... I'll remember about the led next time.
