Default 94' antenna problem...newbie

tried searching but couldn't find anything to answer my question. just got the car yesterday... i'm assuming that my antenna is supposed to go up and down, but mine only stays down and my car has horrible radio reception. I was wondering if members here have had this issues with there antennas and what they did about it. Should i just replace the antenna??? if so, where good site to but parts, or have members done some aftermarkert or conversions of some sort. thanks for any help and info

most likely the plastic gear is worn. You can disassemble the unit and flip the gear over and put it back together.

Hey, I too have a broken antenna.
I have been eyeing this one. Looks like it has good reviews...

After I bought my Accord two years ago it started making noise from the gears as well. I bought a cheap replacement on ebay only to find that the gears wore out in three months. If you do get one on ebay dont expect it to last too long.

in 94-95 the coupes (all of them) had the antenna in the glass. The sedans had them in the rear quarter panel I believe starting in 96 they all went to the glass and for sure in 98 all the accords had them in the rear glass

personally i don't think antennas look right on any car. i would shave the antenna or leave it down if you don't want to go that far and buy a FM booster. it plug in line to you antenna and boost the signal. use to be able to buy them at radio shack. now they involve a little more searching. you can find them a lot at boat shops and ebay like this one

you said you just got the car yesterday, but how does your antenna has problem in such a short time? maybe you should ask your dealer.

It's a 94, I don't think it came from a dealership. look around you will find them. Good luck.
