Default rear brake piston

For some reason my piston is not turning when i turn it with a pair of pliers. The other side turns real good when i use that technique but the driver rear side piston is not even budging. Is there a specific tool that i need to compress the brake piston so i can install my pads. Please help.

This is regarding to a rear brake pad replace for a 98 integra.

go to autozone or advance or what ever(a little drunk to care). for sure autozone has it. it'll be in the tools section. look for a cube. it's meant for rear caliper pistons.

the cube is hollow. hollow enough to fit a 3/8 extension in it. you pick the right side that will fit on the piston. then use a ratchet to turn the piston. that is the only other tool i can think of besides a good set of channel locks or vise grips.

i just use a C clamp and put it one side on the outside of the caliper and the other side on the piston itself, then just tighten the screw as much as you need, then take it off. viola!

the rear piston has a threaded shaft. its not the same as the front calipers.

yea the caliper is prob seiezed. check the price on a new one. it may be cheaper to get a new one then start buying tols and repairing that one. i never knew those cubes where for the rear pistons. lol. learned something new.

you really cant use and anti sieze spray because it will eat away the rubber components.

Yes, AutoZone carries the rear caliper tool, but in my experience none of the sides really fit the Honda rear caliper piston very well. I always end up using a big flat head screwdriver.

And no, a C-clamp WILL NOT work! Use that and you risk damaging the caliper beyond repair.
