Default wastegate question

What are the consequences of having a wastegate partially open? My dilemna is that I have a wastegate (internal) that is gated at 15 psi and I know my engine won't handle it, so I'm thinking about partially opening it to bleed off the exhaust gasses. Has anyone done this before and what was the result? Thanks

It'll create lot's-o-lag. What wg is or turbo is it from? You could modify a lower pressure internal wg to fit...

It's a t3 from a Merkur. It has a .60 ar housing and it's internally gated at 15psi. So essentially are you saying that I could do it this way but I just would have a lot of lag? Would I still hit the full 15 psi or would it be brought down?
What is the other way that you mentioned and what is involved in doing that? Thanks again

Nasty turbo lag and erratic boost below your max boost pressure. Depending on HOW open you leave the W/G... if it's not too much, you should still be limited to the 15 psi bleed, but I wouldn't try it... you don't know exactly how much the valve needs to open to bleed off for 15psi.

well it's gated at 15psi so I don't think I'd go over that. but I am wanting to boost well below that.
