Default Question about CRX 1.6i-VT UKDM cluster

I saw one of these on ebaymotors and have been thinking about buying one. The configuration of the harness on the back seems identical to the USDM cluster except for the blue plug. Are these plug and play on USDM cars? I have a 1990 CRX Si and I am using a cable B-series tranny so this cluster would be ideal. Yes, I have already searched.

I'm sure people have used this cluster on USDM cars and I would like to know if I will have to modify the harness for it to work properly. Thanks in advance!

They are not plug and play. I have the same cluster but haven't had time to install it yet. I just studied the write up from the above link and took notes of everything, just need a weekend to tackle it.

Other people have just swapped out the tach and toss the rest.

It will plug up but the indicator lights won't be right (cel,brake,etc.). Easy fix by swapping the instruments into the usdm housing, i did mine today actually and found all the info i needed by searching "uk cluster". And by the way, yes i know i don't have the exact cluster you posted but its still the same principle.

I bought the edm cluster, swapped the gauges into the usdm housing, and 20 minutes later, plug and play, done! It works great, i love it.

I always wonder how this process works. Do you simply swap the two round portions? The needles will be different colors, wouldn't they?

What do you mean by "round portions"?

No man, you don't touch the needles, it's from the other side. 4 screws for the speedo, and 2 each for the other gauges, they come out forward in seconds, it couldn't be easier

Easy for you to say since you probably have 90-91 cluster. I have 89 cluster in the car now. Either way, some depinning will have to be done.

Thanks for the tips.

If you look at my sig, you would see that it says i have an 89 CRX Si. What i did fiest was get a stock 90-91 usdm Si cluster and repin the wires colour for colour and made sure that cluster worked proper in my car before i did anything else.

You 2 other things:
- newer round style cluster cover (90-91)
- both metal cluster mounting brackets

It will fit well.

I have a 88 CRX SI... can I keep my 88 cluster and just swap the gauges? Or do I need to switch to a 90-91 cluster, cluster cover and metal cluster mounting brackets?

How do the metal cluster mounting brackets work? Do you need to take out the dash to set those up?

If you could do a how-to with pics you would help a LOT of people
