So my release cable was stuck. And the hood wouldn't latch. I decided to poke around see if I could find anything stuck. Well, the spring that releases the latches fell off amongst my poking around. Now the cable to release the hood does nothing, and I cannot figure out how to open my hood.

I have a feeling I may either need to destroy the hood to get it off and replace it, or possibly sneak in with some type of homemade device through one of the fender wells.

Anyone got any suggestions or anything?

And yes, I shut the hood like a moron before fixing the spring. I wasn't paying attention.

 

the only thing i can say is it is easier to get to it with the front grille off but that prly won't help. The same thing happened to a guy on my local forum ill send him a pm and see what he did

if its an older civic get a friend and get behind the front bumper and with a descent sized screwdriver you should be able to align it so that you boy can just pull up on the hood...it worked for me but i couldnt do it by myself

 

yeah the guy i talked to said he was able to get behind the bumper and remove the latch.

 

when i couldnt get my hood open i jacked the front of the car WAY up in the air and took the whole latch assembly off from underneath. its 2 or 3 10mm bolts
