Default adjusting greddy type-s bov

ok so is this thing supposed to be open at idle or closed or halfway?

i recently tee'd the vacuum port for the bov off the brake booster line and i noticed that i never adjusted the bov before because it was sitting at the softest setting with the valve-thing wide open. well i tighten it a few notches till it closed and i drove around for a bit and damn, it whistled like MAD after i shifted. the whistle was louder than the blow off it seemed.

am i supposed to feel air out of the bov at idle cuz i don't feel anything

after playing around with it for a couple of days, i kinda figured it out. i adjusted it where it was totally closed at idle and kept driving and loosening it till i heard the perfect "whoosh ching" everyone was talking about it.

turned out that the setting was about 3/4 with the valve just a tiny, tiny bit opened during idle. basically, you just have to keep playing with the setting. hth

Mine stays open slightly at idle. You can feel air sucking in.

isn't that bad since the type-s doesn't have a filter? and if it stays open at idle, doesn't it stay open during all throttle positions also therefore leaking boost?

It shouldnt matter if the BOV has a filter or not. Its mostly used for sound purposes. BOV's release air, not suck in air....and I'm sure considering the weight of the rock, it cant just jump in there...

Havn't you guys realize that if the BOV stay alittle open during idle, it also stay open alittle during throttle too, which means you are losing boost since it leak out of the BOV which also means you are pushing unfiltered air through the chargepipe and into the combustion chamber. Just a thought, Bov must be completely shut during idle.

no, the valve is held open by vacuum, so when u go into boost the bov is shut. unless it is wayyyy too loose.
