idle at startup question
this is on a 90 crx with b16.
I had a really high idle at startup (2000-2200 rpm). So i cleaned the IACV (it was really dirty) and i screwed the plunger in the FITV back down (it was out all the way). Then i adjusted my idle according to the manual. Now my idle when i START the car goes to 1200rpm then drops to about 550 then back to 1000 then back to 750 all really quick and then it stays bang on at 750. It only does it when i first start the car and the idle stays bang on at 750 while idling, no jumping.
Is that normal to have that up/down/up/down at startup?

My 95 b18 is doing the same. Before cleaning the FITV & IACV it would rev up and down from 1900 to 2100 when warming up. After cleaning it, nothing changed. When the motor is at its ideal tempurature my idle would be at a constant 750. I'm still searching as to what I should do, so I'm suscribing to this thread hoping to find an answer.
I'm sure its not normal tho..
my b18 idles really high cold, like 2500-3000. as it warms up it drops down to around 700. I'm gonna check my timing with a light when i get to work on monday. Any other help i would appreciate.
So I've been searching and found this. Hope this helps..

I didn't screw the ring cap in the FITV down all the way (only to back where it was before I cleaned it), so I think that may be the culprit. I remember trying to dry it out and used my air gun to blow air in one hole and felt air come out through the ring cap. Ill check back in with the results..
UPDATE!! So I twisted the ring cap in the FITV down to where its snug, and now my car idles fine at 1500 when cold. I then drove it around until it's warm and it idles perfect at 750 (not that the regular idle was a problem, I just wanted to let you know it didnt affect anything).
