Hey all
I recently just purchased me a jdm ef9 for cheap was an ok score apart from a few miss matched parts, different coloured door handles and a bit of dodgy wiring it's quite a good score.
Now I have a few issues to iron out before I can move on to the exciting stuff like headers etc like that and in need of some help with them.
First off my fuel gauge is constantly suck on empty with the petrol light on, have checked all the wiring to the receiver and it seems to be fine and there is gas in the car so it ain that.
Second it idles reeeeally low when it's not quite up to running temp, like im talking if you don't keep revving while your stationary it will die, up until it's warm enough it still idles around 5-600rpm which feels really too low.
Have read that it could be the IAVC??? that needs cleaning so im gonna give that a go this weekend.
And one more thing is the handbrake or the rear brakes doesn't release one of the brakes fully so it's driving with one of the brakes still slightly engaged, I have figured a way to disengage it before driving but i'd rather not do this everytime I go for a drive.
Well there you have it if any of you guys could help me out that'd be much appreciated

Stock idle is ~800 rpm. Could be the IACV slowly loosening itself up which will cause the cause to surge in idle down the road which is SUPER annoying. As Canadian EF said, you can try and turn the screw counterclockwise to have the idle come up a little bit, but when you adjust the screw, you have to make sure if the car is running, you shut it off and start it back up to see where your idle is sitting.
The e-brake could just be a caliper going bad because the piston is not going back into place.

ohk cool cheers guys and yes it is super annoying, where is the idle screw located? sorry for the noobness i've actually looked for it but no use looking if you don't know what your looking for.
Hard to find a ef8/9 workshop manual too

It's on the throttle body, its a flat head screw..
If you go to the driver side of the car (in your case being RHD n all that) if you look right above where the intake tube goes onto th throttlebody you will see a goldish? flathead screw. Thats the idle adjustment.
*EDIT* Picture Reference
In this picture you will see it to the left of the red nipple to block off the vaccum port.

Awsome cheers guys, the fuel gauge randomly fixed itself too, although the empty lights still on, least I know how much gas I actually have now lol.
And what remedys are there for the hanbrake?

Have you checked the adjustment of the hand brake? If there is too much tension on line, it could not disengage fully. You would check this by removing the hand brake cover (if present) and you will see what looks like a balancing bar with two nut adjusters plus the cables. Try loosening the one that is sticking and seeing if that makes it better or worse.

the brake issue sounds like it could be sticky caliper, i'm assuming you have rear disc brakes.
how did you get it to free up before, did you bleed them?
the fuel gauge issue might have been a bad sender. you can just remove the bulb for the low on fuel light if you want.

Na like dr latino said one of the cables wasn't releasing one of the brakes (passenger side) other one releases fine, if I push the cable it releases better but it still sticking so i'll try adjusting the cable then if that doesn't help i'll try the caliper see if I can suss it.
Adjusted my idle screw too and seems to idle a bit better still hunts though so i'll clean the IAVC this weekend see if that helps any.
Oh the joys of owning a 19 year old molested *****
