Default info on "The Fab School" in Riverside, CA

did anyone go there? did you like it, learn from it, is it worth the cost? my cousin is thinking about enrolling, so we would like some heads up. thanks.

He lives in So. Cal, I live in Oregon. The idea behind this is when I open my shop late summer he might be able to work for me. He wants to learn fab and machining regardless of if it works out with him working for me.

I'm not sure. He said they have a few different options, and even some quick "crash courses" to quickly cover the basics.

From what I have heard its very expensive, have him look in to his local Junior College?

riverside actually has a community college right there with a welding program, your cousin could be certified there (whole range of certs avalible)

also toyota and GM have pretty large programs there. looks like he can get everything (and more) than the fab school for $30 a unit (welding is 4 units, $50 health/student fee and $50 parking pass)

I'd say stick to regular sheet metal welding classes and get certs. He can learn the fab on the job. The certs will back him up with a regular welding job should the performance thing doesn't work out.
