hey i just got an 88 ef and i have a 99 sohc vtec motor wat do i have to do to run this motor with my wiring harness, i have an str-4 and this is my first hinda so this all foriegn language to me right now would it be easyer to jsut run a 99 wiring harness with 99 guage cluster, is that possible? or would that be more expensive

 

ok, the harness needs to be multi point fuel inejection, meaning four injectors instead of two, you will need the harness to have a vtec solenoid plug if it doesn't have it already, the tranny needs to be a cable tranny, but hasport makes a hydro kit for efs but thats only for b series correct me if im wrong, you will need a obd-1 conversion harness if its obd2 then you get the point, also what ever oyou will need a obd dizzy adapter plug also ummm i think thats about it anything else?

 

now could i just instead get the wiring harness out of the 99 civic my motor came out of and use the 99 guage cluster or will that not work with the ef lighting or watever wouldnt match up?

thanks have you converted to mutle point before how hard is it how much splicing is involved

 

and wat about the motor mounts will it bolt up to the stock ef motor mounts

 

no mine is still dual point got my taxes back looking to do a b series swap now yes it should mount up to the mounts you already have i could be wrong but im almost positvie they will

 

ok so i guess im gonna get a cbale tranny and sell my hydro since it seems way easier will that make a difference in the ecu or wiring harness at all will the axles fit and will the cable tranny bolt up to a 99 d16

 

no it will not affect ur ecu or wiring at all and yes you should be able to use those axles without a problem

 

and im asssuming all the cables trannys are all gonna be late 80s so will they bold up to the 99 d16vtec motor no problem

 

no. the 91 si has a cable tranny

 

do i have to use a 91si one or can i use any d series cable tranny like an 89

 

no you can use any but keep in mind some of them are 4 speed not 5

 

is the 99 sohc vtec motor an ob1 or ob2

ok so i was told by the state referee that if i want to run an ob2 99 sohc vtec motor i just have to have all the equipment from that motor ecu ect. so i if i buy a harness thats been converted to mpfi and with all the correct hookups and all for the vtec will that run the same as if i just had a 99 wiring harness in there as far as the smog numbers go
