Default boosted jdm d15..

I plan to rebuild and boost this engine in the near future. power goal is somewhere near 250whp. How reliable will this be? I would be using it basically as my DD during the summer months.

250whp is not gonna happen with stock rods. I mean if you want it to last more than a week that is

oh, ya sorry i didnt add... When i say "rebuild" i ment, new rods/pistons/ bearings/ everything. get the block and head hot tanked, cylinders honed, possibly bored. Im gonna do the whole works. its gonna take a while since this will be my first engine build. but i will learn as I go, plus it helps that i got a few friends that really know what there doing to help me out.

i know thats alot of variables but i just wanna get an idea of reliability if i plan on doing this. It wont be built for weekend drags. It will be used alot during the summer months. Again. the goal is about 250whp boosted JDM d15 vtec.

Still not really clear.
Are you plannign to use aftermarket piston and rods or just replace them with new stock ones made for the ZC?

Your 250 isn't too hard to get with aftermarket rods. You can even do it on LS rods.
Add some Vitara pistons and go for 300hp!

You could do 250hp all stock and dd it. I have 3 friends doing so right now and they all have been running for over 2 years. Just make sure you get yourself some arp headstuds and good tuning. One of my friends is putting out 275hp stock block. No aftermarket cams, nothing. THis is on a z6 motor.

when you say stock.. you mean stock engine and internals but with boost they make 250hp? thats kinda hard to believe.. i thought the stock rods can only handle up to about 170-180hp...

funny they say you can't get that. mine was at 220whp @15psi all day long on a Mustang dyno.

that was before i put alcohol injection and uppped the boost to 18psi.

250whp is a cake walk for any motor to DD on just as long as it's rebuilt and a tuner that knows what they are doing. You could have a fully built motor from head to block and take it to a tuner that has no idea what they are doing and blow a piston or rod.

If you replace anything, let it be the oil pump. Boosting that motor you will need to make sure you have a good oil pump to keep that oil flowing.

its funny you say that because the whole reason i decided to do this was. My oil pump is worn out. So i said screw it. Im deciding to rebuild it completely.
