Default How do you guys arrange you piston ring endgaps

Hey what up HT,

Im not really satisfied with the compression on my freshly rebuilt LS and I want to put in some new rings and and head gasket. When I rebuilt the motor I used the arrangement below. Instead doing the samething over again and expecting the same results, I want to try something different that will garentee good compression. So how do you guys arrange your piston rings.

-Avery

Oh well I did a compression test today and they were all around 195psi which was kind of high. But it seems that I have been getting different results with different testers. But it completly stock LS motor with stock pistons and head

thats good for stock ls pistons. you will get different results with different gauges. the #'s need to be within 10% of each other

at 195 dont expect much more from the 9:1 pistons or the 9:3 that are in there.

dynamic compression, gauge quality, removing spark plugs from cylinders, and weather all play a part in your readings but for your compression ratio and motor type the numbers are looking great for the low comp. pistons that are in there as long as they're within 5% of each other and you used honda's ring orientation nothing else matters...now go and seat the rings...

cheers
