How many of you that do your own wrenching have changed out your stock cat back for an after market unit and find that your cat bolts are stripped from the factory!?!??!

ME! *raises hand*

It took me forever to get those three bolts off!
Something I was never expecting........

I spoke with one of my friends who owns a auto performance shop and he told me that he gets alot of that from honda's and Acura's alike.....

Anyone else with the same experiences?

 

rusted to hell and back, but never stripped!! guess you got one that was made right after a long saki break!!

we did a header on a SE-R Spec V and BOTH O2 sensors were cross threaded and ripped out all the threads. the car had all of 1700 miles on it

 

mine have all just been rusted to beyond-breakable.

 

well my R came with 2 qts of oil missing and a stripped oil drain bolt. acura replaced the botl and just dumped in oenzoil 530. but my ride is running like a japanese businessman to a strip joint. ..damn fast hehehe

 

1 of mine was stripped, had to break it off, but the other 2 where good.

 

That happened to my friend's S2k. car had 2k miles when we did the catback.

 

i been through so many exhausts that its never been a problem for me... an O2 sensor was all rusted and wouldnt budge before, tho.
