Check your oil, too - I bet it's really full.
I just changed the HG on an old Sunbird. It had a miss at idle but would drive all day until the coolant was gone. Anyway, when I changed the oil, the first quart or so that drained out was coolant.
It was neat - the leaking cylinder had a nice clean shiny piston and chamber and the other 3 were still black.

how is the coolant on the top side of the flange if it was the headgasket? thats weird. maybe the head is cracked behind that stud and the coolant weeps through when the aluminum expands and with the pressure. next time you go for a drive take the rad cap off then put it back on but dont turn it till it locks, just put it on and give it a slight turn, this way the system wont pressurize, see if it does it then.

that sounds really complicated.
and idk whats goin on, im hearing alot of headgasket answers.
but my neon had a blown headgasket and it would overheat like every 3 minutes. ive been driving my car all day with this and nothings happened.
its actually been doing this for a long time now that i really think about it cuz ive always had to put more coolant in.

agreed.. my guess is your radiator cap is leaking, or your overflow pipe is not connected, so when the radiator cap bleeds some pressure, the front of your engine gets a bath.

lucky for you, its a really cheap fix.

I would try this and see if it works. Because I dont see how cooland can get on top of the header when the gasket is underneath the header.

You don't see any white smoke? I mean if the coolant is spraying out from the radiator cap to the header, the heat should evaporate the coolant while driving?

You can have a bad headgasket and your car can go for ages without overheating, it'll just start using coolant.
