ecu question d15b
I just got a d15b from japan (96-00), with dual v-tec solenoids, the car I am putting it in had a d16y7 (no v-tec). My question is will my computer run the d15b? I know it won't run the v-tec, but I need to use the car and its gonna take about a week for the ecu to come in.
One more question... does anyone know the model number on the ecu for the one with 3 stages of e v-tec? I want to buy one on ebay, but they are listed by the model number, not the car. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP, and if you don't know exactly what engine I am talking about please don't post about the model number.

The answer is P2J.Here is your original thread:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/swapping-d15b-into-97dx-d16y7-what-will-work-2519743/
Maybe read posts 8 and 11...?
Well, if you read number 8, the 94eg8 starts out immediately by saying "OBD1" which is clearly not for 96-00 which is what I have stated that I have. And the rest of the time hes talking about that 92-95 conversion... not what I am doing, then post 11 does the same thing.
So, if you know about 96-00, e v-tec, 3 stages, only came in foreign markets, then please tell me the answers to my questions. thank you

Here is his exact quote for your first thread:"Do not go with the 3 stage D15B Vtec unless you feel like trying to hunt down the uber rare P2J ECU that goes with it."
Anyways, don't quote me, but if you use your D16Y7 ECU, it should work but e-vtec and vtec won't work. It will stay on the regular cam timings just like your Y7 until you get a P2J ECU.
Thanks for the input... thats what I was thinking would happen, I'm still unsure. When it came down to deciding on which one to get I figured that it would be easier to find that ecu and then have an original setup than to change over all of the sensors and other stuff, and then still have to use a jumper harness. Also I read that the 3-stage v-tec is pretty sweet >> economical and still just as powerful when you keep it in the high rpm range. Anyways, I'm gonna finish dropping in the new engine tomorrow and try running it on my old ecu... I'll let you know what happens then.
Did you have any info on the ecu model number.
Is the P2J the only number that I have to worry about?
Like for example HONDA 37820-P2J-J62 ECU would work?
Because it just went for 11.50 on ebay.
Thanks again for the input.
