Default OBD-1 B18c1 motor into OBD-2 Integra GSR...

I just finished swapping out my built b18c1 motor and installed a obd-1 b18c1 motor back into my 98 GSR.

The car wont crank or even attempt to turn over.

I didnt even really consider the wire harness at the time.. but i realized all of the plugs and sensors didnt match up once i had the OBD-1 motor swapped in. So i ended up swapping over my alt, dist, starter, and a few other sensors on the IM. The OBD-2 harness has a plug for a CKF sensor over by the crank, but some research showed OBD-1 motors didnt have this sensor...possibly it was part of the distributor instead?? But im not 100% sure if thats the case, or why my car isnt starting.

Im using an OBD-1 ECU with an adapter harness to connect to my OBD-2 harness.

When you try to crank it, it dosent do anything. All the lights come on, i tried jumping it... so i dont think its the battery.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

I did a very similar swap except I have a 2000 LS chassis. I kept the obd1 engine harness and all of its components (starter, dizzy, etc) and plugged it right into the shock tower harness with no issues. I'd go back and use the obd1 components and harness, its a plug and play setup.

To answer your question about the ckf, yes obd2 has it and obd1 doesn't....which maybe the issue you are having with starting. Other than that, double triple check your connections, any rewiring you may have done, grounds especially the thermostat housing ground, etc. good luck

The problem is neither fuel or whether you have or have not a CKF, you do not need either one for engine to crank, in fact you do not need the ECU for engine to crank.

What can it be...
Starter or starter solenoid is bad.
Starter relay is bad.
CIS is bad.
Ign. switch is bad.
Or you have a wiring problem.

First thing to do is a bypass jump, unplug the starter solenoid lead, probably a black/white, regardless, it is the thinner of the two at the starter motor and the only one that is "plugged" in.
MAKE SURE car is not in gear and set hand brake, leave ign. switch off, using a jumper wire, [12ga min.] jump from batt. pos.(+) or batt. connection at starter motor to the solenoid input, terminal you unplugged the black/white lead from, if engine cranks your starter motor and solenoid are good and power and ground to starter motor is good, problem must then be a starter wire issue, so the next thing I would check is the CIS, [clutch interlock switch] found high up clutch peddle, the switch will have a 2pin plug, [3 or 4 pin if you have cruse control] however your only concerned with the black, switch input, [chassis ground, ground at all times] and the blue/black, switch output, [ground out when clutch pressed all the way to the floor], test the blue black for ground when clutch pressed, if no ground test the black lead for a ground, if no ground, ground it, if black is a ground replace CIS.
You can also unplug the CIS and use a jumper to connect the black and blue black leads together, if engine still fails to crank you will have to gain access to the starter relay, sorry not sure where that is in a 98 GSR.
If you listen carefully you should hear the starter relay, [also called starter cut relay] click on under the dash when key is turned to start and then click off when key is released, if you can hear the relay it means the CIS and ign. switches are good and the relay is the problem. 94

Ill test the starter today and double check the CIS plug, although it was never unplugged in during the swap.

The starter is off my 98 engine and worked just fine prior to this. When i turn the key, the fuel pump isnt priming. The lights and accessories seem to work though. But i nothing happens when i try to start it.
