i recently did a swap in my car from d16y8 to b16a

before i did the swap, i changed the radiator and still finished water from resevoir tank.

now with new swap i loose water/coolant and my resevoir tank hhas dirty gunky water.
im changing the water pump and timing belt next week.

what is the reason for this?

i woud like to know too.. i had dirty water plus loss and horrible smell coolant smell inside car lol. i suspected heater core.

 

i have no smell.....and when i turn heater on, my temp guage goes all the way down to super cold!!

 

radiator flush would probably take care of that. if you don;t know how to do it search it here. you'll probably find something on it.

wouldn't the gunky water indicate bad head gasket?

 

im not burning any oil though.
no black smoke either.

haha naw, its honda man. lol
but its new to the extent where
i had a old motor, had a rod knock, motor finished ( didnt blow up)
got new single cam, rollled about 10k on it. sold it
and got b16
same radiator through all that!!

That's what I was thinking...

It'd be white-ish smoke...black smoke = too much fuel.

 

yea but for as much as i kno, bad headgasket = slow car, smoke, oil burning, and smoke.
i dont have any of that.
stock motor, actaully my car pulls a lot.

 

Use a compression leak tester for the coolant. Sounds like a head gasket to me.
