Single Cam Vtec
So I Want To Go Single Cam Vtec Currently I have A 99 Honda Civic dx I Want to Drop A Single Cam Vtec From A 2000 Civic What Would I Need Besides The Engine I Got That Kinda Asking For A checklist Of Sort...Would I Need Need Axles,Tranny,ETC.......
You Will Need To Get The Correct ECU For The Engine You Are Getting. Then You'll Have To Do Some Wiring Changes. Everything Else From The Old Engine Will Work Fine With The New One. By The Way, When You Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word Like This, It Makes It Harder To Read. It Is Also FREAKING ANNOYING!!!

Youre better off buying a whole d16y8 engine with tranny. If you buy the head you'll probably need to resurface it, all new gaskets, labor, timing issues, knock sensor, dizzy, and you'll have a granny tranny. Just buy the whole thing assembled with tranny and all.
thats what i migth do sorry for the cap letters i was at work and every word there i have to start with capital letter, but i was just thinking of buying the whole swap, besides the motor, the tranny, ecu what else would i need, like axles,**** like that
That is a waste of money IMO. Hell a VTEC head swap is a waste of money in my opinion. But if you really want to and your D16Y7 is fine (doesn't burn oil or knock, etc.) you should just get a VTEC head with all the necessary parts you will need (VTEC ECU, VTEC solenoid etc.), and an EX transmission, nothing more.
Like I partially said earlier you need to wire in vtec, and knock sensor, adjust timing because y7 and y8 are off by a tooth, change the ecu, new head and intake manifold gasket, wire the dizzy, change the iacv from 3 wire to 2 wire, ecu and dizzy from 99-2000 and all of this with no cel's or vtec wont engage therefore eliminating the purpose of the build. you can use the same tranny and axles but the si/ex tranny is shorter gears; axles are the same
