Icon2 auto trans questions

hello all,i just want to know a few things about the auto trannies that came in integras.
is there a difference between the ls and gsr one???(like better gearing, quicker shifts, more durable and such.)
i am researching because i want to start buying parts and building the teggy up.
i dont feel like cutting/fabbing tranny mount brackets or buying a conversion.
auto trans is gonna stay, hahaha. i feel that quicker shifts and the lack of usable cup holders on the d.d. can offset the lack of complete control of the rev range.
anywho,i am getting long winded.
so can you gurus of the teggy steer me in the right direction.
thanks.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..A.J.

If the auto tranny is gonna stay and if you increase the HP don't expect your trans to last long. Auto transmission are terrible and can't handle any type of extra power. I think the gsr auto tran you are reffering to was only avialable JDM, and you'll probably have to spend alot to get one. If you have your heart set on not changing the trans don't build your car and save for a maual version.

even a built auto tranny wont hold more than 250hp so stock forget it. either leave the car alone or convert it to 5 speed. the trans will not hold additional power for long

I don't have any exact numbers for what a stock Integra auto tranny will hold, but its not much over stock. Remember unless you have an OBD1 Integra you can't chip and tune your ECU, and due to the automatic tranny backdating an OBD2 integra to OBD1 really isn't an option leaving you pretty much screwed. Its really not that big a pain in the *** to swap a 5 speed in there, it can be done in a day if you have some help, know what you're doing and don't screw around.

Just as a side note the only GS-R automatic trannys are JDM (they actually came in the SiR-G) and IIRC you also need the corresponding TCU.

I know i read somewhere that a stock honda trans will hold roughly 250 built and it wont last to long even then so. Its not designed like a regular auto trans, there very different and also dont use planitary gear setups in them. Its a F*K show to say the least but there 5 speeds are damn strong
